A local customer in the Staten Island area had us come out to see if we could fix their wall oven.
Once we came out to their location, we were quite surprised to see what specific brand their wall oven actually was.
This customer's oven turned out to be a Caloric oven.
More to the point, this specific Caloric wall oven unit was more than 40-Years-Old!
Recently, a customer called us in to see if we could help them out with their SubZero refrigerator.
The top-left door hinge was severely acting up on them and they wanted a professional service, such as us, to help them replace the hinge without causing any unnecessary damage or disturbance to the rest of the unit.
They did the right thing by contacting us since we've done many of these types of replacement repairs before.
After we got the necessary hinge replacement, placed a few braces underneath the bottom of the fridge door to keep it steady if it were to drop all of a sudden.
We then proceeded to unscrewed the prior top left hinge.
While supporting the free-floating fridge door with our free hand, we changed out the faulty hinge with the good one and then screwed that one in nice and securely.
This project didn't take long, but that doesn't mean we didn't take our time with it.
Hinge replacements can be tricky business, but lucky for our customer we always treat every one of our jobs with a dedication towards quality and a patience for perfection. Even if it's just a simple refrigerator door hinge.
A customer came into contact with us in regards to their Wolf oven being on the fritz.
More to the point, it was their control panel which was acting up on them and refusing to work as properly as it should have.
They called to see if we'd be able to help them out with replacing their old control panel for a new one which they'd already purchased.
We were happy to help them out, and since they called us fairly early, >we were able to get out to their locations and provide service to them the very same day.
A new customer required some assistance in regards to their Bosch dishwasher leaking water all over their kitchen floor.
We were able to come out to their location at a time that was preferable to them and see what sort of trouble their dishwasher was in.
It was apparent once we pulled the unit out that they had Two Problems on their hands.
The First Problem: their drainer hoses was a total wreck. And that tied directly into the Second Problem: it was a total wreck because it had been chewed through by some mice.
While we aren’t exterminators ourselves, we were able to point them in the right direction as to finding a good, quality service which would help them be rid of any mice in their place and protect them against any future occurrences of the pest as well.
Next, replacing their draining hose was a piece of cake. We briefly shut down the unit, took the old hose off, went and grabbed a new one for the unit real quick, installed the new drain hose, then we turned everything back and their dishwasher was as good as gold.
We recently had a customer give us a call and say that they were experiencing complications with their dishwasher.

Since they called us early regarding their defective dishwasher, we were able to come out the very same day. Upon arrival, we then conducted a brief overview of their machine and what was wrong with it. Since their dishwasher wasn’t starting, that already pointed us in the right direction from the beginning.
Once we finished our diagnostic of the dishwasher, we were able to determine that the reason the appliance wasn’t turning on was because its thermal fuse had been severely burnt. (See Before picture.)
We pride ourselves on providing the Best Dishwasher Repairs in Staten Island and its greater surrounding areas.
A thermal fuse acts as a safeguard between your dishwasher and the electrical current that flows throughout it. If there’s a short in your dishwasher’s wiring or it experiences any type of extreme power surges than your thermal fuse is there to help prevent you from turning the machine back on.
However, in this customer’s case, there was simply a faulty connection which made the fuse give out. We replaced the thermal fuse with a brand new one (see After picture) and the entire take-down to reinstallation took not but 30 minutes or so.
Regardless of what some DIY repairmen may suggest, Never Purposefully Bypass Your Dishwasher’s Thermal Fuse! While it could save you a little money from having to purchase another one temporarily, the potential risks far outweigh the benefits.
Running a dishwasher without a thermal fuse is like using an electrical outlet without a ground source. When it comes to electrical home appliances that are constantly using and churning around water, the last thing you want to do is to throw an unguarded electrical current into a wet environment.
Overall, this repair was simple to resolve and takes very little time to accomplish. So if your dishwasher isn’t operating correctly, or any other home appliance like a washing machine, then give us a call and we can likely schedule a same-day appointment with you to see what’s going on with it.
That way, you can finally stop being con”fused” by your dishwasher’s problems.
When we arrived, this washing machine was leaking everywhere! Not only that, but the agitator wasn't moving and we knew we needed to pay attention to the mechanics of this machine.
Many of our appliance repairs calls start out disastrous for the owner of the appliance. Whether a leaking appliance like a washer or dishwasher, or one that doesn't start, life gets mighty inconvenient when these machines break.
Washing machine repair calls can get pretty crazy. Fortunately, we are able to help customers by fixing their machines. This washing machine repair proved to be a little different than normal repairs, though.
When arrived at this home, the washer was disconnected. But there was major water pooling (I should have gotten a picture. Sorry!) When we checked the drum, we realized that the bearings were completely shot and a stay was stripped bare and couldn't hold the drum. It was wobbling all over the place!
This can be caused by faulty parts, overloading the washer too often, or having loads consistently uneven.
Regardless, we needed to remove the entire drum. Once that was out of the way, we replaced the bearings, gaskets and the strut. Then we made sure the balance and spindle were properly set so this machine wouldn't continue to malfunction.
We fixed the problems and replaced all the washing machine parts and now the washer works perfectly!
When you buy a luxury brand of refrigerator, you expect it to last a long time with no problems. Well, sometimes that happens, but luxury brands break down, too. And refrigerator repairs are a very common call!
Sub-Zero is a favorite luxury brand of mine. Sub-Zero refrigerators are really big, have fantastic control features and look great, too. But when it comes down to it, they have the same basic setup to keep your food cool as any other refrigerator.
This customer called us complaining that her Sub Zero refrigerator needed a repair because "the food just isn't cool!" When we got to her home and diagnosed the problems, we found our that there was a massive parts failure going on.
I was training a new man to be an appliance repair guy and so I had him tear down the refrigerator. The first thing we noticed was a massive leak. The refrigerant had leaked out of a crack and caused the compressor and freezer evaporator to both fail. On top of that we ended up replacing the heat exchanger and accumulator.
We also repaired the leak, of course, as that was the primary culprit anyway. All in all, we replaced four parts on this machine.
By repairing this Staten Island Sub Zero refrigerator, TJ's Appliance Repair ensured that this customer won't have to deal with these problems again. We can take care of your Sub Zero refrigerator repair, too, or any other brand. We can even repair all the other major appliances in your home!
